AppSignal Closes $22 Million Growth Investment

In August 2012, we set out to build a fairly priced, developer-centric APM and logging platform that we’d love to use ourselves. Soon after, AppSignal was born and quickly gained traction. Despite operating in a competitive market, we’ve become a household name among many of our peers, now serving over 2,000 organizations across six continents.

As a bootstrapped company, we’ve always done a lot with relatively little. But to reach the next level, we need to spread the word about AppSignal and continue expanding support for more programming languages. We believe many more developers will love using AppSignal once they know we exist and that we work with their tech stack. Long story short: we want AppSignal to be a major player in today’s market.

To support that growth, we looked for a partner who values what we’ve built and can help guide us through our next chapter. We found that partner in Austin-based Elsewhere Partners, who have invested $22 million to help take AppSignal to the next level.

This journey began in April 2024. Over the past year, we spoke with several potential investors before closing a deal with Elsewhere Partners. From our very first Zoom meeting, we were impressed by their deep understanding of the developer tooling ecosystem – their previous investments include Airbrake and Portnox, among others. Just as importantly, they respected how far we’ve come as a bootstrapped company.

As part of our expansion plans, we’ve welcomed Brandon Swalve as our new CEO. With his experience leading product-led growth teams and their go-to-market strategies, we’re confident he’ll help us grow at the pace we’ve always envisioned. With Brandon on board, Thijs will focus more on our technology, Wes on our product offering, and Roy on our customers and the communities we serve.

With Elsewhere Partners’ support, we’re also establishing a stronger presence in the US while maintaining our European one, enabling us to serve our customers in the Americas better.

We’ve always believed in doing things the right way: building sustainably, listening to our customers, and focusing on long-term value. This partnership allows us to stay true to those values while confidently stepping into a bigger, more ambitious future. We’re excited for what’s next, and we’re ready to deliver.
